FlowFest’24: A Day of Deep-diving into Tech | Tech Stream

Table of contents

FlowFest’24, Flowable’s annual online event held on October 15th, was nothing short of spectacular! This year’s event offered three dynamic streams—Business, Tech, and Innovation—along with inspiring opening and closing keynotes. With 12 highly anticipated sessions and over 20 expert speakers, FlowFest brought together thought leaders from Forrester, Bruce Silver, Bank Julius Baer (BJB), FIS, a global banking giant, and, of course, Flowable.

After looking at the highlights of the opening and business streams and the innovation stream, let's recap the top moments from the tech stream:

What lies ahead: A look into what’s new in Flowable

In the first talk of the tech stream, Flowable VP of Product Engineering Tijs Rademakers and Product Architect Joram Barrez shared exciting updates on Flowable’s latest tech. They focused on improvements in case management and process orchestration, highlighting new connectors and AI integrations that make workflow automation smarter and faster. The live demo showed how these features handle complex cases and high-volume tasks, while AI-driven app and model generation simplifies everything. It’s all about making things easier for knowledge workers and boosting process efficiency.

From concept to code: Building custom form components

In the second tech stream session, Flowable Product Architects Orlando De Mauro and Jorge Navarro took the audience on an exciting journey into developing and integrating custom form components in Flowable. They started with a brief intro to Flowable forms, then jumped into the new custom components API and the latest workflow improvements powered by Flowable CLI. The live demo stole the show, showcasing how developers can now see real-time changes to custom components directly in the design environment. This makes setup and deployment faster, easier, and perfect for cloud-based workflows.

Flowable performance mastery: Best practices and tips

The final tech stream session by Flowable Product Software Architect Joram Barrez and Filip Hrisafov, was all about how to boost performance in Flowable. They focused on how to optimize system configurations and data management to handle high volumes of cases and processes efficiently. Through a live demo, they shared practical tips on scaling Flowable’s architecture, using the right hardware, and leveraging features like history levels and housekeeping for better data control.

A day packed with innovation

What makes FlowFest stand out is its blend of diverse perspectives on automation, spanning across business, tech, and innovation. Other sessions included a keynote by Craig Le Clair from Forrester on automation trends and AI, a keynote by BPMN expert Bruce Silver on the importance of Open Standards. Each session provided unique insights, showing top-notch automation capabilities, discussing future trends, and how automation is transforming organizations worldwide. The cross-functional focus brought together everyone — from business leaders to tech experts — sharing real-world use cases of how automation can drive success. Watch all sessions and streams here
