FlowFest’24, Flowable’s annual online event held on October 15th, was nothing short of spectacular! This year’s event offered three dynamic streams—Business, Tech, and Innovation—along with inspiring opening and closing keynotes. Flowable Product Engineers Bert Matthys and Christopher Welsch kicked off the innovation stream by introducing the powerful new integration of IDP with Flowable via Abby. In an exciting live demo, they demonstrated how this integration accelerates document processing with OCR, NLP, and machine learning, enabling faster, more accurate data handling while ensuring regulatory compliance.
The demo showcased Abby processing a transaction dispute form, effortlessly extracting data and integrating it into Flowable. This real-time example highlighted how the system boosts efficiency, cuts operational costs, and enhances workflow management for businesses.

In the next innovation session, Flowable CTO Micha Kiener and Solution Architect Roger Villars took the stage to dive into Flowable's upcoming integration with Microsoft's powerhouse tools like OpenAI, Teams, Outlook, Azure, and Entra ID.
Through a dynamic live demo, they showcased a use case of automated email handling, where incoming emails were processed instantly using OpenAI to extract data and intent. This real-time demonstration highlighted the efficiency and practicality of these integrations, showing how they supercharge automated workflows and data management for businesses.

The last – but definitely not least – talk of the innovation stream was led by Flowable Solution Architect Roman Saratz and Fullstack Developer Jan Michael Laranjo. They gave an exciting, hands-on showcase of Flowable’s new AI capabilities, walking through the entire setup. They closed the session with a live demo where AI processed customer emails, detecting intent, analyzing sentiment, and generating automated responses. From address changes to damage claims, it showed how Flowable’s AI turns unstructured data into actionable tasks, all without manual effort. The integrated AI also allowed real-time updates and feedback, making it possible to tailor AI actions on the fly. This functionality was highlighted as a significant advancement in handling dynamic business scenarios where customer interactions require quick and adaptive responses.
